December 3rd Baby Time: Penguins

Today our story time was about penguins! Here are the songs and rhymes we used:

Penguin Songs and Rhymes:

Penguins Waddle
(Tune: The Ants Go Marching)
http://www.clpgh.org/research/parentseducators/educators/earlychildhood/programs/penguins.html

Penguins waddle all day long,
Hurrah, Hurrah!
Penguins waddle all day long,
Hurrah, Hurrah!
They only stop to take a swim
and when they’re done, they waddle again
The penguins waddle around,
and around, and around, and around

Two Penguins
http://www.geocities.com/mystorytime/puffins.htm

Two little penguins sitting on the ice
(hold up index fingers)

One bows once, the other bows twice
(make fingers bow)

Waddle little penguins, waddle away
(put fingers behind back)

Come back penguins, time to play
(bring fingers back to front)

Dance Like Snowflakes
http://www.theideabox.com/Dance_Like_Snowflakes.html

Dance like snowflakes
Dance like snowflakes
In the air
In the air
Whirling, twirling snowflakes
Whirling, twirling snowflakes
Here and there
Here and there

Skidamarink
Traditional song

Skidamarink a dink a dink
Skidamarink a dink a doo
I love you

Skidamarink a dink a dink
Skidamarink a dink a doo
I love you

I love you in the morning
and in the afternoon
I love you in the evening
and underneath the moon

Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink
Skidamarink a dink a doo
I love you

Five Baby Penguins
Taken from: Storytime crafts by Kathryn Totten page 84

One baby penguin makes a wish.
Two baby penguins catch a fish.
Three baby penguins slip and slide.
Four baby penguins run and hide.
Five baby penguins look around, calling  …
Now they are found.

Have You Ever Seen a Penguin
Tune: “Have You Ever Seen a Lassie”
The Big Book of Reading, Rhyming, and Resources by Beth Maddigan

Have you ever seen a penguin,
a penguin, a penguin,
Have you ever seen a penguin
swim this way and that?
Swim this way and that way
And this way and that way.
Have you ever seen a penguin
swim this way and that?

…slide
…waddle
